Just in time for ECNDT 2026, TEQTO is pleased to announce the release of a new motorized UCI probe for the TQ-4C portable hardness tester. The new probe will make its public debut at our stand in Verona this June — and we invite you to come and try it yourself.
What makes it different
The motorized UCI probe automates the entire loading cycle and minimizes operator influence on the measurement process. Indenter approach speed, test force, and dwell time are electronically controlled and remain constant from measurement to measurement.
The result is significantly improved repeatability compared to manual probes. The motorized mechanism eliminates errors caused by probe tilting, inconsistent loading force, insufficient contact, and movement during surface contact. Every measurement is performed under identical mechanical conditions — making the probe particularly well suited for high-volume inspections and applications where maximum repeatability is essential.
Key features
-
Fully automated loading cycle with one-button operation
-
Eliminates operator-induced errors typical of manual probes
-
Fast measurement — just 2 seconds per reading
-
Measurement in any orientation
-
Micro indentation, non-destructive for the specimen
-
Particularly suitable for thin materials and coating hardness testing
-
Wide measuring ranges: 8–1500 HV, 8–650 HB, 20–70 HRC, with HRA, HRB, HSD, and MPa conversions
-
Test forces of 0.2 and 1.0 kg
Where it works best
Typical applications include carbonaceous and structural steels, the heat-affected zone of welds, ready-assembled machines, and items with surface-hardened layers such as cementation, nitride hardening, and high-frequency current hardening — as well as thin coatings and layers where manual probes struggle to deliver consistent results.
