May 2026 — Teqto has introduced the S1 Coating Thickness Gauge, a compact, field-ready instrument built for accurate, repeatable coating thickness measurement across ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces.
The S1 operates on two established measurement principles — magnetic induction and eddy current — giving engineers and inspectors a single device capable of working with a broad range of surface types and coating systems. What distinguishes the instrument is the precision it maintains across that range, along with a modular probe system that enables measurements on components with complex geometries and heavy coatings reaching up to 25 mm.
Built for Industrial Environments
The S1 carries an IP65 rating, protecting it against dust ingress and water splashes — the kind of protection that matters in environments like pipe mills, shipyards, chemical plants, and power generation facilities. The unit is compact enough to carry into the field, yet capable enough to handle the demands of continuous industrial use.
Teqto designed the S1 with a broad application scope in mind:
-
Oil and gas industry
-
Chemical and food processing
-
Shipbuilding and ship repair
-
Machine building and transport
-
Thermal and nuclear power
-
Pipe mills
-
Public utilities and infrastructure
Measurement Flexibility Through a Wide Probe Range
One of the S1's core differentiators is its extensive probe lineup. Six probe types cover a measurement range that spans from 1 µm up to 25,000 µm (25 mm), across ferrous and non-ferrous substrates:
|
Probe |
Range |
Substrate |
|---|---|---|
|
FS-01 |
1–1,000 µm |
Ferrous |
|
FS-02 |
2–2,000 µm |
Ferrous |
|
FS-03 |
30–3,000 µm |
Ferrous |
|
NFS-25 |
50–25,000 µm |
Non-ferrous |
|
FS-05 |
50–5,000 µm |
Ferrous |
|
RS-05 |
1–500 µm |
Fe / nFe |
This modularity means a single S1 unit can be configured for tight-tolerance automotive coatings, heavy protective coatings on marine structures, or anything in between.
