Eddy-current flaw detector ED-45 is intended for detecting cracks and measuring their depth (detecting stress- corrosive cracks in metal ferromagnetic constructions) even under layer of corrosion and/or protective coating.

Flaw detector enables to measure depth of corrosive damage as well as thickness of protective coating.

The device combines magnetic and eddy-current methods for flaws detection, which enables the user to control products with rough corroded surface and to measure through the layer of insulating coating of variable thickness without any additional readjustment.

Objects of control:

– pipes, pipelines,
– oil and gas pipelines,
– vessels, pressure vessels,
– objects of energy production,
– details of structures, machines and mechanisms.

Operation advantages

  • Simultaneous identification and depth measurement of stress corrosion cracks, thickness of the insulating coating and/or corrosion.
  • Continuous monitoring of the thickness of insulating coating enables user to detect corrosion fissures.
  • Real-time adjustment of readings.
  • Adjustable threshold units for minimally detectable fracture depth and thickness of the insulating coating.
  • Intuitive interface.

Construction advantages

  • Capability to use additional changeable sensors.
  • Metallic housing of electronic unit for use in severe field conditions.
  • The contact surface of the sensors is made of abrasion resistant zirconium ceramics.
  • Signalization of the defect detection: lighting, audio signaling through loudspeakers or headphones.

Eddy-current flaw detector ED-45 is designed for industrial and field conditions.

The device needs no additional adjustment at work:

  • on coarse and corroded surface (preowned pipes, parts of structures, mechanisms),
  • on a damp, dirty surface,
  • on surfaces with variable thickness of insulating coating.

Control sample KO-345 with simulated crack

Control sample KO-345 with simulated crack is designed to test the operability of the Eddy-current flaw detector ED-45 and the Crack depth meter ET-28.

The sample is made of structural carbon steel grade No. 20.

Before each use of the device for measuring the depth of cracks on the product, it is necessary to check its operation on a control sample.

The main characteristics of KO-345:

  • A crack with a depth range of 1.8 – 2 mm was simulated on the sample.
  • KO-345 is included in the basic delivery set of the Eddy-current flaw detector ED-45.

Probe cable for ED-45

This cable is designed to connect the electronic unit of the magnetic-eddy-current Eddy-current flaw detector ED-45 with the standard sensor “N-45”.
Cable length 115 mm.
Unique connectors ensure stable transmission of information during operation of the device.

Probe N-45 for flaw detector ED-45

Probe N-45 is intended for detecting cracks and measuring their depth (detecting stress- corrosive cracks in metal ferromagnetic constructions) even under layer of corrosion and/or protective coating.

Construction of Probe N-45

The Probe N-45 consists of following: metal housing and elements of excitation and reception of magnetic field. Sensor surface contacting with controlled surface is made of zirconium ceramics.
There are two indicators on the probe: red one signalizing about crack and yellow one signalizing about change of thickness of protective coating (or about corrosive damage).
The cable connects sensor and the electronic unit Eddy-current flaw detector ED-45.

Eddy-current flaw detector ED-45 combines magnetic and eddy-current methods for flaws detection, which enables the user to control products with rough corroded surface and to measure through the layer of insulating coating of variable thickness without any additional readjustment.

Objects of control:

  • pipes, pipelines,
  • oil and gas pipelines,
  • vessels, pressure vessels,
  • objects of energy production,
  • details of structures, machines and mechanisms.

ATTENTION! If you buy only Probe N-45, the Eddy-current flaw detector ED-45  should be sent to the retrofit and alignment.
