TQ-4C UCI hardness tester and probe for non-destructive testing

TQ-4C - UCI hardness tester

UCI hardness testers

High-precision hand-held instrument engineered for demanding production and field conditions, delivering reliable non-destructive testing capabilities. Designed for assessing production quality, it finds utility across various industries such as metallurgy, mechanical engineering, aircraft construction, shipbuilding, atomic industry, and oil and gas.

Operating on the Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI) method, this hardness tester is specifically tailored for measuring the hardness of carbon structural steels across fundamental hardness scales such as Brinell (HB), Rockwell (HRC), and Vickers (HV).

Application

  • Carbonaceous and structural steels.
  • Items with surface-hardened layers suach as cementation, nitride hardening, high frequency current hardening.
  • Heat-proof, corrosion-proof, and non-corrosive steels.
  • Plated coatings (e.g., chrome), overlaying.
  • Items with complicated configurations.

Operational advantages

TQ-4C UCI hardness tester in use
  • Stable readings independent of applied force and duration of pressing.
  • Easy measurement in hard-to-reach areas.
  • Ultra-small control area (from 1 mm).
  • Control in slots and blind holes from 5 mm (unique feature compared to rival devices).
  • Invisible print on mirror surfaces.
  • Low sensitivity to surface curvature, thickness, and weight of the product.

Features

  • Impact-, dust-, and water-proof housing.
  • Bright color display for operation in sub-zero temperatures, remaining visible under varying lighting conditions.
  • Signalization of threshold readings exceedance.
  • Unique system for statistical data processing and averaging of readings.
  • Swift adjustment of readings and programming of additional calibrations to basic scales using two or fewer standard blocks.
  • Flexible device memory for recording and analyzing readings.
  • Programming of additional scales calibrations by two or fewer standard test blocks.
  • Quick programming of additional scales by two to ten standard test blocks.

Exploitation

TQ-4C UCI hardness tester with probe

Exploitation requirements

  • Items heavier than 1 kg and thicker than 2 mm require no additional preparation.
  • Items lighter than 1 kg or thinner than 2 mm should be securely fixed using a vice clamp or support plate with fixing paste.
  • Best measurement accuracy achieved on surfaces with a roughness of 1.6 RA.

Hardness testers modes

Measurement mode Readings Using
By basic scales Basic hardness units (HRC, HB, HV) Hardness testing of the bulk of products
By additional calibrations to basic scales By HRA, HRB, HSD scales and ultimate tensile strength Hardness testing of high-alloy steels, special cast iron and nonferrous metals
By additional scales Scales are programmed by the user Special problems solving

The statistical parameters used for processing measurements

  • Maximum, minimum, and mean values.
  • Standard deviation from the mean.
  • Average deviation from user-set values.
  • Number of results outside the upper/lower limit range specified by the user.
  • Maximum deviation from the upper/lower border.
  • Automatic elimination of erroneous results.
  • Comparison of measurement results in series using comparison charts displayed on the hardness tester.
