Crack depth meter ET-28 – high-precision instrument for measuring the depth of cracks exposed on various metals and alloys (incl. stainless steel, duraluminum), previously detected by other methods.
The operating principle of the Crack Depth Meter – AC electro potential measuring that provides prompt and precise depth test (in comparison to traditional methods).
The device is the most efficient in combination with other crack-revealing methods: magnetic particle, capillary or eddy-current.
Typical control objects:
- Shafts, rolls, rolling mills, details of constructions, machines and mechanisms;
- Pipes, tubes, oil-and-gas pipelines;
- Pressure vessels;
- Energy industry devices.

Stages of crack depth measuring
- Setting of the “0” – measuring on flawless location of the object.
- Measuring of crack depth – contact electrodes are located on the opposite sides of the crack, measurement result in mm is shown on the screen.

- Surface roughness – below or equal to 40 Rz (10 Ra)

Special probe “2x2” for Crack depth meter ET-28
Sensor «2×2» is designed to work on surfaces with a small distance between cracks.
This sensor has 4 electrodes, which are arranged in two rows.

- Control of ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic materials(stainless steel, aluminum alloys, etc.)
- Measurings range – from 0.5 to 20 mm.
- Work on a surface with a close location of cracks (“grid”).

Special probe “3+1” for Crack depth meter ET-28
Sensor «3+1» with external electrode is designed to measure the depth of cracks than 30 mm.
This sensor has 4 electrodes, 3 of which are arranged in one row, and 1 current electrode is external.
The external electrode allows you to increase the voltage, thereby expanding the measurement range of crack depth to 100 mm.

- Measurings range – from 30 to 100 mm.

Special test block KO28-2 for crack measurement
Special test block KO28-2 for crack measurement is designed to test the operability of the Crack depth meter ET-28 electro potential.
5 cracks of different depths were simulated on the KO28-2 sample: 2, 5, 10, 20, 30 mm.
The sample is made of structural carbon steel.
Before each use of the device for measuring the depth of cracks on the product, it is necessary to check its operation on a control sample.
